Abstract

A laboratory test system where the active and reactive power of the load is similar to the capacity of the synchronous generator is used to study the effect of load characteristics in the critical clearing times of transient stability simulations. The load is represented using either static and dynamic load models, and when the dynamic models are considered, the effect of the mechanical load of the induction motor in the critical clearing time of the system is also studied.
