Abstract
In this paper a new solution is presented for an articulated artificial neck to be used with a sensored head mannequin in simulating the effects of impacts on the head. Problems and requirements are outlined to guide to a solution with low-cost design using also commercial components. Basic performance is evaluated through a dynamic simulation to define a prototype design for testing purposes.
