Abstract
Integrated copper alloy manufacturing plants generate a variety of waste material along their production lines, including slags, chimney dusts, scrap turnings, and spent acid pickling solutions. Moreover, if secondary scrap is used as a raw material in the smelting stage, a number of metals classified as toxic will report to the residues. This paper presents an alternative process that makes use of two of the residues - spent pickling solution and the foundry's chimney dust. By adding reagents, it is possible to receiver valuable metallic products as well as a considerable fraction of the toxic metals.
