Abstract

M-type barium hexagonal ferrite (BaFe12O19) is one of the most important hard magnetic materials, widely used for permanent magnets as well as microwave devices and magnetic recording media. The Fe3+ ions are arranged in five different types of sites (12k, 4fVI, 4fIV, 2a and 2b) [2]. The magnetization of the sublattices 4fVI and 4fVI Is antiparallel to the other sublattices. The main aim is to substitute selectively the Iron ions located in the 4fVI and 4fVI sublattices. In this work we present the results of the modification of BaFe12O19 prepared with the chemical precipitation method with the addition of zinc.
