Abstract

We review some applications of the renormalization group techniques in the standard model of elementary particles. We first introduce the systematic method of the perturbative treatment of the renormalization group that is based on the parameter A of the CKM matrix. Next, at the one loop order, we find the analytic solutions of the renormalization group equations and obtain the evolution of the gauge couplings, quark masses and the CKM matrix. We show that the unitarity triangle is invariant under such an evolution. We also consider the two loop approximation where we find the corrections to the one loop running and derive the bounds for the physical Higgs mass 146.8 ≤ MH ≤193.8.
