Abstract
An analytic technique for minimizing temperature excursions (above the average) in tubular elements of a convection-type superheater system, involving placement of tubular inserts in the distributing and collecting headers, is suggested. Operational experience with such inserts in a large superheater proved that a 2. 5 to 3. 5 increase in life of parts most susceptible to thermal damage is possible.
