Abstract
The angular distribution of the magnetic Barkhausen noise energy is used to determine the influence of the applied stress in cold rolled ASTM 36 steel. In particular, the magnetic easy axis is predicted by the angular distribution of the magnetic Barkhausen noise energy, which, in turn, is obtained by magnetizing the samples in the radial direction from the center of the sample. The results indicate that the applied uniaxial stress gives origin to a continuous rotation of the magnetic easy axis. In addition, this study reveals that the jump energy distribution presents a clear angular dependence and is very sensitive to the anisotropic behavior of the magnetic Barkhausen noise activity.
