Abstract

In this paper, a comprehensive analytical methodology for the analysis and study of sub-synchronous torsional interactions (SSTI) between turbine-generators and static VAR compensators (SVCs) embedded in a series capacitive-compensated ac network is presented. Emphasis is being placed upon the study of the effect of load characteristics on SSTI. The methodology is based on a flexible approach to perform state-space and frequency domain analyses of multi-machine power systems
