This research analyze quantitatively the structure of the network of collaborations from the Interdisciplinary Center in Marine Sciences (CICIMAR) from the National Polytechnique Institute (IPN), which is the biggest technological institution in México, by virtue of the relevance that networks have taken as a vehicle for collaboration and generation of knowledge in the search of solutions for environmental issues. For the analysis Graph Theory was used, considering co authorships among researchers in scientific production of articles, books, books' chapters and thesis guidance from period 2009-2011, and three, and three attributes of centrality: clustering coefficient, intermediation and grade, which, in the context of knowledge networks they are interpreted as: cohesion, communication and productive leadership. Results show low cohesion indexes, which involves little work in the network, existence of some groups within the center, but without relation between them, presence of leaders from groups, nine influential researchers who match with high levels in National Researchers System (SNI), but they do not promote collaborative work. In conclusion, the problem of this structure is that IPN privileges the assignation of budget to researchers with high SNI's levels, leaving the rest with few resources to carry out their research.
