Abstract

Isolation and screening were carried out according to their mechanism of action of endophytic and rhizospheric plant growth promoting bacteria in wild populations of Pinus patula and Pinus montezumae, Mexican conifer tree groups used for reforestation purposes due to their accelerated growth and high performance. Eighty-seven bacterial strains were isolated from pine seedlings, purified and grouped by morphological criteria. Strains producing growth phytoregulators, phosphate solubilization, determination of the amount of solubilized phosphorus and chitinase production were evaluated and selected. Thirty-seven strains showed at least one of the evaluated activities, with production levels of growth phytoregulators in parameters ranging from 54.4 to 139 μg/ml, halos around the colonies of 3.2 to 3.8 cm solubilizing phosphate in amounts ranging from 0.1 to 2.4 mg/L and full growth with clear zones around the colonies with halos of 1.2 to 2 cm for the production of chitinase. Results of this work represent the first step to develop a growth acceleration system for forest use plants.
