A simple fingerprint sensor based on ridge conductivity

Abstract

This paper introduces a low cost sensor array based on a simple method to acquire a fingerprint directly from the current flow through the ridges of the finger, which touches the plates of the sensor array. The test chip is being manufactured using a conventional 2 μm two-metal digital CMOS process.
