Abstract

A novel printed version of the classic volcano smoke antenna is presented. Its remarkable bandwidth goes from 700 MHz up to 6 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which covers the actual personal communication systems including the LTE emerging system. The antenna gain remains in values above 3 dB in all its bandwidth meanwhile its total efficiency is >90%. The radiation patterns stay almost omnidirectional. The simulated results and the measurement data exhibited an excellent agreement.
