Abstract
In this article, a novel technique is employed to reduce the dimensions of a λ/4 resonant monopole. The procedure considers the antenna covered by a cylindrical conductor and short-circuited at the top of the resonator, separated by a dielectric similar to a coaxial line. With this technique, the length of the monopole can be reduced up to 40% without modifying, significantly, the parameters of the antenna. copy; 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
