Abstract

A new mother wavelet function is proposed, for audio and speech signal processing, which based on an inner ear model and a critical band concept that allows to emulate the ear behavior. When proposed wavelet function is used in pattern recognition applications, it performs the feature extraction of speech and audio segments, using signal decomposition similar to that taking place in the basilar membrane.
