Abstract

A new gas sensor using a polypyrrole film grown on the surface of an interdigitated-capacitor substrate was proposed for the detection of carbon monoxide (CO). An experimental set-up was established and the properties of the sensor and the responses to different temperatures, gas flow rates, and CO concentration were measured and discussed. The maximal sensitivity (ΔR/R0) for this sensor at 500 ppm CO concentration reached 6.5% and could be consistently reproduced.
