Ponciano Jorge Escamilla-Ambrosio received the degree of Electrical Mechanical Engineer and the degree of Master in Electrical Engineering with honors, both from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, in 1995 and 2000, respectively. He received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, in January 2004. From 2003 to 2010 Dr. Escamilla was a Research Associate at the University of Bristol, UK , in the departments of Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science. From 2010 to 2011 Dr. Escamilla was an Associate Researcher in the Electronics Department of the National Institute of Optics Electronics and Astrophysics, Puebla, Mexico. From 2011 to 2013, Dr. Escamilla was General Director of Technological Innovation at the Ministry of the Interior. Since 2013, Dr. Escamilla is a Professor-Researcher at the Computing Research Center of National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico. Dr. Escamilla has more than 100 publications in scientific journals, conferences and book chapters, his main lines of research include Internet of things, smart cities, sensor fusion, cybersecurity, wireless sensor networks, neuro-fuzzy networks and intelligent control. Dr. Escamilla is a member of the National System of Researchers Level II, as well as a senior member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
