N2 - One of the tensions in constructing a fair, supportive, and inclusive society derives from the commitment not to compromise the future of coming generations: There is a set of contradictions between the formulation and execution of territorial public policies and sustainability leading to social transformations. The study's objective is to explore the implications of social innovation in territorial public policies with a sustainable approach based on the experience of two business organizations operating in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca. The research method, designed with a qualitative approach, includes a literature review and data collection. It was concluded that social innovation by interconnecting social projects for sustainable territorial development with a weak involvement of the public sector is not exclusive of Mexico, but exists in different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Therefore, this research provides tools for decision-makers and envisions new scenarios for future research.
