Resumen

The paper discusses the propagation of sound from a moving airborne source in an ice-covered ocean. The ocean is visualized as a stratified liquid layer; the ocean floor and the air, as homogeneous halfspaces. The water-covering ice is modeled by a homogeneous elastic layer. The acoustic field is assumed to be set up by a narrowband point source, nonuniformly moving through the air halfspace at a subsonic velocity. Asymptotic formulas are derived for the field due to the moving source. They take into account all of the field components, such as the normal modes, the lateral ocean-floor mode, and the airborne mode. The asymptotic formulas are developed in terms of the large parameter λ, which characterizes the slow changes in the source's amplitude and velocity.
