Resumen

The system NixZn(0.8-x)Cu0.2Fe 2O4 with compositions X = 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 has been produced by means of mechanical milling. An ultra-high energy mill produces the development of a solid solution with cubic structure, in Fe-rich containing mixtures. The solid solution can be recognized from milling times as short as 25 h but after 61 h of milling this phase becomes preponderant. Mössbauer spectroscopy and TEM show the development of the solid solution as a function of milling time, although in some cases the spinel phase (ferrite) is also present in the samples. The development of hysteresis loops as a function of milling time, can be interpreted on the basis of the phases contained in the samples. Saturation magnetization values indicate the progressive formation of the solid solution as the milling time increases.
