Resumen

This work presents a classification of cooling systems used in power plants, and describes the functioning of closed humid and dry direct systems. It also describes how the condensation temperature affects the rejected heat flow in a Rankine cycle condenser. It is verified that with closed humid cooling systems the condensation temperatures reached are smaller than with a direct dry cooling system. Finally, the variation in airflow with decrease in temperatures of the cooling fluid between entry to and exit from the condenser is shown. To illustrate this, an analysis is presented on the condenser section of the steam cycle at the Samalayuca II Combined Cycle Plant.
