Resumen

Organic pollution is principally due to the occurrence of phenolic compounds, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, pesticides, etc. Phenolic compounds contained in wastewater mainly come from oil refineries, coal conversion plants, petrochemicals, polymeric resins, coal tar distillation, pharmaceuticals, etc. Densities of pure cresols were determined from 313 to 363 K and ≤ 25 MPa. The densities of each compound were then correlated using a 6-Parameter explicit volume equation. The isothermal compressibility, isobaric thermal coefficient and the internal pressure were derived from the densities. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2007 AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007).
