Resumen
The paper estimates the determinants of the market share of Mexican manufacturing industries into the United States, distinguishing between determinants related and unrelated to technology. Estimations are based on a theoretical model that allows classifying industries according to the competition process pursued by industries included in each group. Regarding technological aspects, four categories were identified: among industries with high technology, those with high and low intra-industry trade, and among low technology industries those with high and low intra-industry. Distinction between these groups is represented by a process of product innovation, vertical or horizontal product differentiation, price or quality differences, domestic market structure, and labor costs.
