Resumen
The concept of a background current, which was used earlier for calculation of the barotropic circulation in the Sea of Japan, is generalized for the case of a two-layer fluid in a quasi-geostrophic approach. The account of baroclinity has lead to notable reduction of the stream function amplitudes and allowed the reproduction of most of the qualitative peculiarities of the horizontal structure of the Tsushima current.
