N2 - An anion exchange process was used to prepare pipemidic acid-MgFeAl composite from MgFeAl-Cl layered double hydroxide as inorganic matrix. The obtained hybrid material contains pipemidic acid anions as well as, in a less extent; carbonate and chloride species in its interlayer space. The antibacterial properties were evaluated against E. coli and S. typhi strains through dilution broth method. MgFeAl-Cl matrix resulted to be completely inactive against two bacteria, while MgFeAl-PIP composite killed all colonies of E. coli after 90 min of exposure and showed a good activity to kill S. typhi bacteria at times as short as 120 min.
