Around the world, 15,945 species belonging to 290 genera have been described. Ecoregions directly influence the diversity and composition of ant fauna, since they provide nesting sites, food resources, and microclimates. This work aimed to learn the diversity of ants in the different ecoregions of Durango State, Mexico. We collected 2,340 individuals belonging to 40 species in 24 genera and five subfamilies. Differences in species composition were observed between the ecoregions of North American deserts, meridional semi-arid elevations, warm dry forest, and temperate sierra.
