N2 - There is an increasing trend towards the use of robotic devices assisting upper-limb (UL) physical therapies in patients who have been suffered a different kind of injury and nature, the key issue of all these devices is the limitation in their individual use, each device turns the training session more expensive, low compliance and inaccurate for external evaluations. This paper presents a novel design for an UL assist mechanism, based on the three principal movements for a successful arm therapy session: wrist extension and flexion, radial and ulnar deviation, and pronosupination. We use the NURSE appliance to extend the movements of the mechanism, in this way we obtain a complete system to assist in most of the UL physical therapies.
