Abstract

An analytical method was developed for high molecular weight organic compounds, which is based on the combined use of a liquid chromatograph with a specific device to detect unsaturated compounds (double bond analyser (DBA), developed in the Institute of Chemical Physics, U.S.S.R. Academy of Sciences); it uses the qualitative chemical reaction between ozone and the >C=C< bond. This method enables the distribution of >C=C< bonds in products analysed to be determined and facilitates the calibration of gel-chromatographs by the direct analysis of polymers with terminal >C-C< bonds, which is a fundamentally new feature.
