N2 - The main topics of quantitative texture analysis are presented: (a) What is texture, how it is characterized and represented? (b) The measurement methods: global (X-rays and neutrons-measured poles figures) and local (Orientacional Image Microscopy). (c) Bunge's mathematical treatment (generalized spherical harmonics) and the ghosts' problems. The relationship between texture, materials and processes is analyzed. The recrystallization of a FeNi 50% alloy is discussed. The relationship between texture and polycrystal anisotropic properties is presented and exemplified it with a magnetization-energy case.
