Abstract

In this work, ZnO nanonanostructures were growth by promoting the heterogeneous nucleation of a zinc (Zn) foil (99.99%) by thermal oxidation at 450 °C in air (21 wt. % oxygen) for 5 h. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed that ZnO leaves-like nanostructures were achieved; the hydrophobic properties in surface and photocatalytic activity were measured; the applications of this material in the industry are discussed.
