Abstract

A review of the state-of-the-art on the available technologies for soil washing wastewater treatment is provided. The application of the surfactant enhanced soil washing (SESW) technology for the site restoration involving soil contaminated with hydrocarbons and pesticides is briefly described and the analysis of the problem associated with the wastewater generated during the SESW processes is described. From the available literature reports, the best approaches to the wastewater treatment are analyzed and a perspective for further scientific and technological challenges is described.
