Self-affine nature of the stress-strain behavior of thin fiber networks

Abstract

The failure of toilet paper under uniaxial tensile loading was studied. Mechanical tests were performed on at least 30 paper sheets. The failure behavior of the toilet paper was explained on the basis of a fractal damage model of the fiber network.
