N2 - The relativistic three-body equations for the πNππN system are solved using separable interactions for the two-body subsystems. In the case of the πN subsystem, the input is taken to be the P11 and P33 channels, while for the ππ subsystem the input are the δ00 and δ11 channels. The model predicts resonance-like behavior in most of those πN partial waves where counterclockwise loops are seen experimentally. This shows that these resonance-like patterns which are usually interpreted as higher πN resonances could just as well be regarded as manifestations of the coupling of the πN elastic channel to the inelastic πΔ and ρ{variant}N channels.
