Abstract

This paper presents a prototype for measuring power quality in a single-phase grid. The system calculates several parameters from the power supply, in order to analyze the power quality. The prototype measures the main parameters, which are: the frequency, the rms value of both voltage and current; Total harmonic distortion of both current and voltage; and amplitude of harmonics both voltage and current; considering up to harmonic 25. The prototype can be used to analyze the power quality in conventional grids, microgrids and smart grids based on distributed generation systems to comply with the applicable regulations. The prototype consists of a stage of sensing and conditioning of both current and voltage from the power supply, a stage of data acquisition using the NI USB-6210 and a stage of visual processing parameters, which is done by LabView. This system is low cost, compared with commercial systems, and allows a better processing of the data acquisition, this is a prototype to measure, due to which it can be add more functions or measurements as required.
