Abstract

The presence of the ammonite Hegaratella baezi nov. sp. near Ciudad Victoria (State of Tamaulipas), Northeast Mexico, represents an important Tethyan link of Berriasian age, between this area and some European countries (France, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania), and Crimea region. Hegaratella baezi nov. sp. is a Berriasellidae of the Subfamily Pseudosubplanitinae Nikolov & Sapunov, unknown until now in the Americas. Its systematic position is here discussed.
