Abstract

Frailty is a multidimensional syndrome that affects older people. Data of risk profile in health and nutrition of the population in Mexico suggest frailty and the need to investigate and establish preventive nutritional interventions. It reviews some of the changes related to aging process, malnutrition associated factors, as well as different definitions of frailty, its components and their connections with the nutritional status and other diseases that increase the vulnerability in elderly people. Finally it describes effective alternatives for dietary and nutritional prevention in solving the problem and could be evaluated in México.
