Abstract

This paper presents the modeling and simulation of a salient-pole synchronous machine including static, dynamic or mixed eccentricity between stator and rotor. The generator is connected to an infinite bus bar and the abc reference frame is used to large disturbances angular stability studies, three-phase short circuit. The Modified Winding Function Method (MWFM) is employed to describe the machine windings and calculate the inductances of the generator. The permeance distribution is obtained by graphical determination of the field flux plot. Finally the calculated inductances are used to simulate the behavior of the generator under steady state operation, during a three-phase fault and after the fault clearance.
