Abstract

The following paper presents the development of a mobile information system that supports the learning process of concepts required for the learning of Calculus, an assignment which presents high failure indexes in both High School and College educational levels. This system adapts to the student’s learning style with the help of an optimization method, and therefore is able to provide educational resources according to their needs. In this study, after two tests were applied, testers showed a decrease by half the time spent in solving, and a greater interest in solving new exercises by themselves. Besides, a reduce from a historical 45% failure rate to 31.4% in this calculus course was obtained. As a plus, the system adapts to many screen sizes, which allows several mobile devices. The architecture was built in a modular way to add other materials and more digital educational resources given to the system a scalability capacity, so the digital resources of the remaining units of this course are being prepared and they will be incorporated into the corresponding module.
