Abstract

We study the diffraction of a two-dimensional Gaussian beams by two equally spaced slits in a planar thick screen. We find in the far field the existence of constant-intensity-angles (CIA), when the two slits are scanned. We analyze these CIA in the two diffraction regions, the so called scalar region, given when λ/ℓ < 0.2, and the vectorial region given when λ/ℓ > 0.2. In the scalar diffraction region we propose an analytical expression which approximately gives the angular position of the CIA.
