Abstract

A super-twisting (ST) controller is proposed in this paper to increase the energy quality of a wind energy conversion system (WECS). The proposed ST controller is designed to reject the most common WECS disturbances that affect the quality of the energy that a WECS injects into the grid. The proposed ST controller design is related with the harmonic spectrum of the WECS disturbances, so that robust performance is achieved under these WECS operation conditions. Simulations and experiments are presented, which allow to show how the proposed ST algorithm is an excellent control alternative for a WECS under disturbances to make to comply with the Std. IEEE 1547 - 2018.
