Abstract

In this paper is presented a methodology to optimize the efficiency of a radial permanent magnet electric generator applied to electric energy generation from renewable sources. The objective function used to optimize the electric generator makes use of the power losses and efficiency of the electric generator; it means that the geometry of the stator is a constraint to optimize the electric efficiency. The optimization results were validated with the prototype of a radial permanent magnet electric generator with 20 poles and 50 W at 1500 rpm.
