Abstract
Based on observations that the growth of the intermetallic layer during the hot dip aluminizing process is more effectively prevented by use of a tabular cooling apparatus than by alloy addition to the molten aluminum bath, an attempt was made to design an efficient cooling apparatus with the aid of a three-dimensional non-steady thermal analysis by the finite element method. The obtained cooling curves will be useful to determine the apparatus dimensions.
