Abstract
In the application of phototherapy if the power density of the incident light is too high to induce a significant rise in target tissue temperature an state of localized hyperthermia can be induced which can match with phototherapy effects. This paper presents the development of phototherapy system with temperature control. The system allows the application of optical radiation at a wavelength of 630nm, using light-emitting high power diodes. The developed system has a power control to irradiate the target tissue with an adequate power density. Also, the irradiation time it is automated. A temperature sensor is placed in the irradiated sample to control the temperature. This temperature control control allows the study of photodynamic therapy effects in synergy with the thermotherapy effects in the treatment of different diseases in external tissue.
