Abstract

In this study, the asymptotic tests of non inferiority of Blackwelder, Farrington-Manning, Böhning-Viwatwongkasen and Hauck-Anderson, as well as the likelihood ratio test and two variants of these tests were compared based on their real significance levels and their powers. The Farrington-Manning test turned out to be the one with the best approximation to the real significance level to the nominal level for sample sizes 30≤n≤100 and for the three most frequently used non-inferiority margins. In addition, the power of the Farrington-Manning test was very similar to the power of those tests with good approximation to the real significance level of the nominal level.
