Abstract

Currently the industry works with rigorous quality standards in their production processes, forcing instruments have most accurate measurement possible, to achieve this certification must send to calibrate their instruments outside facilities, but these is difficult due to the operation periodical or are in a process of production, as solution they have contracted specialist companies for the calibration process within the plant, being an expensive solution. As a practical solution we present the design of a portable dry block bath based on Peltier Cells for the calibration of temperature sensors, which complies with the characteristics of being an instrument of easy transport and handling for sensor calibration within the plant. The experimental prototype dry block bath achieves a temperature range from 0°C to 150°C (273,2°k to 423,2°k) typical industrial processes. To ensure correct temperature control is designed a digital PID control algorithm, which was implanted in a PiC. The temperature control system was validated with experimental simulations and tests the whole system operation, quite satisfactory results were obtained.
