Abstract

In the current knowledge society, the true wealth of companies will not be alone in the development and performance of their products or services, but in how they can monetize it through the exploitation of their data and the use of IT (Information Technology). The concepts of Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT) involve data centers, activity in social networks, cloud computing, sensors, and mobile devices, data on professional activities, banking data, users and passwords for programs and applications, lists of customers and suppliers, etc. All those connected devices or data stored in the network are susceptible to being attacked because absolute security and privacy in computing are not easy to achieve. Currently, there are still many challenges in the best way to use massive data sets while ensuring their security and privacy. These challenges include protection against security breaches and data leaks, vulnerabilities in public databases and the exchange of third-party data. The implementation of security and privacy policies poses a great challenge, especially when administering large-scale distributed data sets, so access and use of data must be monitored in a dynamic and decentralized environment. This article presents an investigation of security and privacy challenges in Big Data. The document discusses challenges and directions related to data confidentiality, privacy, and reliability in the context of Big Data. The topics mentioned in the document include how companies try to reconcile security with privacy, the notion of ownership of data and access control in large data warehouses.
