Abstract
A simplification of the Dodge area length method is proposed. It is possible to measure the ventricular area and a linear correction factor directly from a projected grid, superimposed on the ventricular shape. Mathematically, the proposed formula is equivalent to the Dodge original expression. The correlation between both methods is high (r = 0.98), indicating that the proposed formula, which avoids the planimetering of the area can be substituted usefully for the original formula.
