A simple electrochemical synthesis and characterization of colloidal silver nanoparticles

Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NP) were synthesized by electrochemical method using high purity metallic silver in triple distilled water for two different concentrations: 15 ppm and 22 ppm. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized structural, optical and morphologically by XRD, UV-VIS transmission, Photoluminescence, and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The surface plasmon resonance peak in absorption spectra of silver colloidal solution showed absorption from 389 nm to 404 nm. The visible photoluminescence emission has been recorded in the range of 1.37 eV and 3.77 eV under UV excitation. TEM measurement showed a nanoparticles average size of 3.18 nm for 15 ppm concentration and 3.19 nm for 22 ppm.
