N2 - The synthesis and x-ray analysis was carried out to compare mono- and disaccharide benzyl fucopyranosides. The molecular structure, hydrogen bonds, intermolecular interactions and crystal structure were described. The different substituents were found to induce small conformational changes on the fucopyranoside ring. The conformation of the benzyl group varied from (+)gauche for monosaccharide to synperiplanar for the disaccharide.
